Permanent collection includes the Alaska Gallery which depicts the history of the state starting with native subsistence lifestyles through European exploration. Iditarod Sled Dog Race "The Last Great Race":
Mushers and their dogs face the ultimate challenge as they begin their grueling 1049 mile race to Nome from downtown Anchorage. The starting line is 4th Avenue and "D" street. (907)376-5155

Tony Knowles Coastal Trail:
The start of approximately 10 miles of paved trail that provides scenic views along the coast (Cook Inlet) to Kincaid Park. Access begins only two blocks from the hotel. Excellent for jogging, hiking and cross country skiing.
