Location:  Carmel Valley Ranch is on the sunny side of the peninsula just six minutes east of the beaches and galleries of Carmel-by-the-Sea. The ranch is situated about a fifteen-minute drive from the Monterey Peninsula Airport, ninety minutes south of San Jose and two hours south of San Francisco. The cities are readily accessible via several major airlines, and the resort is also easily accessible via major highways.

Directions from San Jose Airport:  Exit airport on Hwy 101 South. Take Hwy 156 West (Monterey Peninsula Exit). Continue on Hwy 156 to Hwy 1 South. Continue on Hwy 1 South to Carmel Valley Rd. Turn left on Carmel Valley Rd. for approximately 6.5 miles, turn right on Robinson Canyon Rd. and the ranch is on your left. Drive time 1 1/2 hours - 75 miles South to the resort.

The Oaks is know for its "coastal cuisine", the Chef relies on nearby orchards, farms and the ocean to provide the freshest ingredients. * The wine list has been honored annually by Wine Spectator's "Award For Excellence." Golf:  Our challenging course was designed by Pete Dye -and is a "must play" when visiting the Monterey Peninsula. The course is relatively flat on the front nine and meanders along the river, the back nine is heavily forested and features dramatic elevations changes from tee to fairway. Most players choose to use a golf cart for their round, however if you choose to walk that is fine providing your pace is maintained. Tennis:  The tennis club at the ranch consists of French chalets, blooming flowers throughout the area and the pro's will even assist with finding you a game during your visit. Quick facts: 1 - grass court ( only 20 clubs in the U.S. has grass courts); 2 - clay courts; 10 - hard courts; 1- sunken exhibition court. Lessons/clinics are available for individuals or groups. For your convenience towels and water are on the court. Full locker rooms with Jacuzzi and sauna awaits you after your match.
Spa/Health Club:  Spa** All of the treatments at the ranch are done in the comfort of your suite... Aromatherapy Facials: Custom facials based on an analysis of your skin by our Licensed Esthetician in the privacy of your suite. Each session includes cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage, masque and moisturizing treatment. Hiking:  Let one of the Carmel Valley Ranch guides lead you through some of the most beautiful and diverse landscape in the world. Bring your camera on your choice of a variety of hikes that are sure to leave you with lasting memories of the hidden natural beauty of the peninsula. Options include: 1) a high line hike winding through diverse vegetation with ridge-top views of Carmel valley and the surrounding area, 2) a coastal path leading through wooded forests, cypress groves, rugged shoreline and peaceful coves, (a great place to see marine mammals), and 3) a Big-Sur hike past hills of cacti, through redwood forests, along a fresh-water stream and up a rocky-ridge trail or along the coastal bluffs. All hikes include transportation, water and a snack. Difficulty levels vary from gentle to strenuous.
Monterey Bay Aquarium:  More than 100 galleries and exhibits re-create the bay's many habitats, from shallow tide pools to the vast open ocean. A million-gallon indoor ocean, viewed through the largest window on Earth??go eye-to-eye with more than 300,000 strange and colorful creatures. Self-serve and full-service dining/gift and bookstores are located inside the institution.
Monterey Wine Country Tours:  Experience the remarkable wines and breathtaking vineyards of Monterey Wine County. This world-renowned area compresses a collection of unique regions that share exceptional characteristics for the creation of superior wines. Full tours are available with advance reservations. Chateau Julian is within 5 minutes of the ranch and is located on 16 acres. The winery was founded in 1982 by Bob & Patty Brower. Tours and wine tasting: Mon-Fri 8:30-5 Sat/Sun 11-5.
Cannery Row:  One of the America's most famous streets. Here, hard working Chinese, Portuguese, Italians, Japanese, and Scandinavians-whalers, fisherman, and cannery owners struggled to enhance their lives and build a thriving industry. The historic street is being preserved and restored and now provides access to beaches, retail stores, restaurants and galleries. 8 miles NW of the resort.
Fisherman's Wharf:  Restaurants, fish vendors, shops and galleries by the water. 8 miles North of the ranch.
Pebble Beach Golf Links:  18 holes of challenging golf, home of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, to stay at The Lodge at Pebble Beach to secure a tee time. Course statistics: 18 holes, Par 72, Championship rating 74.4, yards: 6,799. Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant.
