The boat basin is home to one of the largest fishing fleets on the North Coast. Marina hosts up to 500 sport boats. At the harbor, you can watch the commercial boats flow in and out, unloading their catch all day long almost every day of the year. The commercial fishermen of Del Norte County provide the world with a much-needed supply of shrimp, crab, and bottom fish. A crab permit is needed to catch crab, except that the B Street Pier where fishing is free. Stroll around the marina and meet up close the monstrous seals and sea lions as they bask on the dock in the sun and cavort in the water. Still-operational lighthouse standing on an island just West of A Street guarding Crescent City Harbor. Accessible via a path at low tides. The lighthouse keepers welcome guests to the picturesque landmark. Tours include a climb to the light tower and displays of maritime artifacts and events. The tower houses a first-order Fresnel lens.
Withing walking distance of the Super 8 Motel are a variety of attractions. Standing as sentinel to Crescent City Harbor is Battery Point Lighthouse which has served for over a century warning mariners of the hazards of the rugged shoreline. This is still operational lighthouse on an island just west of A Street in accessible at low tides. Tours include the light tower and displays of maritime artifacts and events. View St. George Lighthouse 6 miles out to sea.
