Our doors were opened in 1927 to a glamorous throng including such Hollywood notables as Louis B. Mayer, Douglas Fairbanks, and Mary Pickford. The Hollywood Roosevelt quickly became known as "The Home of the Stars" and was the site of the first Academy Awards presentation.

The list of noted visitors is long, and includes Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Errol Flyn, John Barrymore.

The Cinegrill became haven for writers such as Hemingway and Fitzgerald, and was a favorite romantic rendezvous for Gable and Lombard. Errol Flynn allegedly invented his own gin concoction in the back of the hotel barber shop, and 22 year-old David Niven was given a room in the servants' quarters when he came to California to try his hand at acting.

Today, the Roosevelt is a deeply cherished Hollywood landmark.
