- Gunflint Hills Golf Course, 4 miles up the Gunflint Trail, this is a quaint 9-hole course surrounded with birch and maple trees. You may need to wait while moose or deer wander by before you play through.
- Devils Track Lake and many other secluded inland lakes
- Super National Golf Course
- Lutsen Mountains, fantastic downhill skiing in winter, Alpine Slide and Gondola Ride in the non-snow season
- Hiking trails, trout and salmon fishing in all kinds of settings, directions and information available at the front desk
- Incredible fall colors up and down Highway 61 and the various trails

Local attractions, activities and events (with-in 35 miles):
- Grand Portage Stockade, National Monument and casino
- Boat service excursions depart Grand Portage for Isle Royale, 20 miles off shore. This famous island of 500,000 acres is a vast wilderness preserve. You can explore the hiking trails or attend a National Park Ranger presentation and guided nature walk.
- Hiking, exploring and stream fishing. Devil's Kettle, Honeymoon Bluff, Temperance River Trail, Cascade River Trail (find all seven waterfalls) are a few of the many trails.
- Cross-country skiing at its best. Scenic overlook and Pincushion Mountain areas are close to the inn, several other trails are mapped and available to you.

- Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness Pristine, clear waters, pine and birch forest, native wildlife and the solitude of the true wilderness.
- Gunflint Trail Starting in Grand Marais, the Trail winds 58 miles through the Superior National Forest, with glacial lakes, wooded hills, and legends of pioneers and fur traders.
- 18 miles from Lutsen Mountain Ski Area, the Midwest's only gondola lift, vertical rise 1088 feet. 34 runs. Gondola rides are also available in the summer season.
- Lake Superior Circle Tour, a spectacular, beautiful drive around the lake. Starting in Duluth to Grand Marais. Then into Ontario, Canada. Sioux St. Marie, Michigan and across Wisconsin back to Duluth.
- Grand Marais Art Colony The North Shore has a reputation for attracting talented artists to study the visual arts. The colony offers classes and exhibits their work in frequent shows in the local art galleries.
- Fall Foliage A wonderful display of Autumn color against the backdrop of Lake Superior (usually from mid-September to mid-October).
