Description:
The building which now houses the Peacock Inn is one of Princeton's most historic. On the tax rolls since 1775, the inn was moved from Princeton University campus one hundred years later. The Peacock Inn has become a Princeton landmark and gathering place since opening its doors to the public in 1912. During these many years, the Peacock Inn has provided convenient, comfortable lodging in a warm, hospitable environment for travelers. Its address, one block from the Princeton campus, is partly responsible for the inn's roster of illustrious guests such as Bertrand Russell, Albert Einstein and F. Scott Fitzgerald, who have come from all over the world to this grambrel-roofed inn with high dormers, multipaned windows and big front porch. Today, the inn continues to offer the feeling of friendliness of a large and varied family. The inn currently contains 17 comfortable guest rooms, an elegant French restaurant, and a lovely bar for lighter fare.
