In the lobby there are Desk Clerks that are
very happy to help direct and guide you around town. There is a major
subway stop which includes the 4, 5, 6, N, R trains which are at 14th
Street and Union Square Station (located at 14th Street between Park
Ave.-Broadway). We have pay phones in the lobby. We also have a vast
array of night club, tourist, and transportation information located
in the lobby as well. In the basement we have self-service laundry facilities.

A
small European-style hotel with about 120 guest rooms. The hotel just
completed a dramatic restoration project to re-ignite the prestige of
this 100 year old landmark building. Countless numbers of our rooms
have been featured in many of the world's top fashion magazines. Celebrities
such as David Bowie, Madonna, and Steve Buscemi, are just to name a
few of Hollywood's A-List that have done photo shoots, movies, or possibly
may even have stayed here.
Many
of our Doubles for 2 persons, (1 queen bed) Twins for 2 persons, (2
twin size beds) Triples for 3 persons max, (1 queen bed, 1 twin bed)
have cable TV, air conditioned, daily grooming aids, daily maid service
(from 8:00am-4:00pm), and hair dryers are located in each room. Each
of our Double/Twin/Triple rooms are new and have been renovated within
1 year max, they offer good quality beds, nice furniture, and each room
has a sink. We have Single (1 person max) rooms that are perfect for
the traveler who is alone. These rooms are very basic, many do not have
A/C, or TV, but they are clean and inexpensive. They feature a twin
size bed, dresser, mirror, and some offer a sink in the room. Some of
our Single rooms do have A/C and cable TV, for an additional price,
just ask for a Deluxe Single room.
Whichever
type of room you decide mainly depends on how many people are in your
party. You will still receive all the standard services, such as incoming
phone service and daily maid service between the hours of 8:00am-4:00pm.
All rooms in Hotel 17 are European-style, they all share the bath in
the hall among 7-8 other rooms per side of floor. There are 2 toilets,
shower, and a bathtub on each side of each floor. The other side of
the hallway features the same configuration. The bathrooms are kept
meticulously clean, we have a person that cleans the building 24 hours
a day, each bathroom, shower, is cleaned at least 6 times a day. There
is never a problem getting in to the bathrooms, and each one is private
once you are in the room.
