Directions :  By plane, the Wilmington International Airport in Wilmington, NC: Just a 45-minute drive from our ferry landing in Southport at Indigo Plantation and Marina via Highways 17 and 133. The Myrtle Beach Jetport in Myrtle Beach, SC is 60 miles south via Highways 17 and 211. Brunswick County Airport: Just five minutes from Southport, services small private planes with a 4,000 foot hard-surface landing field, NDB-A approach, and landing lights that can be keyed by the pilot. Car rental, fuel, maintenance and repairs are available. If you are driving: Interstate 40 and Highway 74/76 link the region with Interstate 95, providing access from points north, south and west. Entering Southport on Route 211 (Howe Street). Turn right onto West 9th Street and continue to the ferry landing at Indigo Plantation and Marina, 6099 Indigo Plantation Drive. A 20-minute passenger ferry ride transports you along the Intracoastal Waterway and across the Cape Fear River to Bald Head Island*s harbour. The island is also easily accessible by private yacht from the Intracoastal Waterway, Cape Fear River and Atlantic Ocean. Located at the mouth of the river, the marina accommodates yachts to 90 feet. Area Attractions:  The oldest lighthouse in North Carolina is located on Bald Head Island. Old Baldy was commissioned by Thomas Jefferson and constructed in 1817. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse for spectacular views of the island and its surroundings.
