Pioneer Courthouse Square:
The heart of Portland. This single-block public plaza is quintessential Portland. Metro Washington Park Zoo:
The 109-year-old zoo creates realistic settings for animals from such diverse environments as the Alaskan tundra, the African rain forest and the lush Pacific Northwest. Oregon Convention Center:

Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI):

Skiing:
Just a two hour drive to the east of the city is home to downhill ski areas and cross-country trails. The season typically begins by Thanksgiving and lasts well into spring. Some higher elevation runs on Mount Hood stay open until Labor Day. Most ski areas meet all skiers' needs, including lessons and equipment sales and rentals.

Ocean Beaches:
A two hour drive to the west of the city and you are at the Pacific Ocean. Treat yourself to miles of breathtaking views, natural parks, sandy beaches and rugged headlands along the spectacular Oregon coast. From Portland the most direct route west is Highway 26.

Oregon Wine Country:
Some of the state's most notable vineyards can be found in the Tualatin and Willamette valleys. Highway 99 and Interstate 5 easily link the wineries near Portland.
