The High Water Mark:
Gettysburg National Military Park On the third and final day of The Battle of Gettysburg, General Robert E. Lee decided to try to attack the union lines right in the center. It was a gutsy attempt to smash the union army. Leading the charge were Generals Pettigrew, Trimble, and Pickett. The charge would become known as Picket's charge. Over 12,000 men made the 1 mile march from the confederate lines to the union. Only a few hundred made it to the "High Water Mark." The "High Water Mark," is the point of deepest penetration into the union lines by the soldiers of Pickett's charge.

Valley of Death:
The valley below Little Round Top is called the Valley of Death. So many men were killed in the valley that the small creek which flows through the valley ran blood red for days after the fighting ended.

The Gettysburg Battlefield Bus Tours:

The Gettysburg National Cemetery:

The Eisenhower National Historic Site:

This farm was his peaceful retreat from 1951 until his death in 1969. The farm adjoins the battlefield and is administered by the park service, which offers daily ticketed tours only on a first come first serve basis from the visitors center. |
